Artist of the Week: 2raumwohnung
This week's artist is German pop group, 2raumwohnung.
2raumwohnung means "two bedroom apartment" in German. I found out about them through a friend who was studying abroad in Germany for year. He sent me back about 4 MP3 CD's of music and hidden amoung the many treasures was my soon to be favourite german pop band. Some describe them as very 80's pop sounding. Songs can vary from sweet pop hits, electonica jewels, and country dance hits. They recently released a CD called "Melancholisch Schön" which is a combination of bossanova/jazz and acoustic version of their hits. Hopefully I will be able to get my hands on a copy soon.

Artist of the Week: O-Hum
This week's artist is Iranian rock group, O-Hum.
I first learned about them a few years ago through a friend who gave me a copy of "Nahal-e Heyrat" and "Hafez in Love". I loved the albums and was begging for more when I quickly learned about their situation which prevented them from releasing CDs. They've done a couple European tours and hopefully they will make it to the US soon. Luckily in the past year they signed a deal with a Canadian record company and were able to realease their new album "Aloodeh". Also, the video for the song "Darvish" is available on Youtube.com"O-Hum means "Illusions" in Persian. The band formed in 1999 by Shahram Sharbaf [Singer\Songwriter] with Shahrokh Izadkhah [Guitar] and Babak Riahipour [Bass]. O-Hum's music is a combination of Western Rock style mixed with Persian traditional Music and Instruments, with Shahram singing lyrics from the great 14th century Iranian Poet "Hafez".O-Hum signed a record deal with a music label in Iran and recorded the first album "Nahal-e Heyrat" in summer of 1999. Soon the record company took the album to the Ministry of Culture [Ershad] to get release permission. Ershad rejected the album quickly, believing the album was too western and out of their standards. After many failed efforts to get the permission, record company canceled their deal with O-Hum and handed back "Nahal-e Heyrat" to the band. In January of 2001 O-Hum launched its official website "O-Hum.com" and put the whole album track downloads online for free.
In winter of 2004 Shahram began the final recording sessions with songs he had written in last two years. The new album "ALOODEH" finished in summer of 2005 and "Bamahang Productions", an Iranian record label in Canada, signed up with Shahram to release the album in North America and Europe.
